Change – the only constant..

…. that was the title for the Springtime-Futurniture-Tengbom-Eastwei event that took place in the VIP-section of the Swedish pavilion in Shanghai last week. It’s already been five days but the memory lingers on…

140 attendants listened to an all-star team of nine speakers including among others representatives from IKEA (Ian Duffy), Bayer (William Valentino), Springtime (Birgitta Ed) and Thomas Spranger of David Chipperfield Architects China.

The common denominator was the subject of change drivers in different industries. We listeners learnt about the Chinese generation of the 90’s (which is apparently interested in other things besides money and consumerism), Chinese volunteer workers in the Amazon jungle, IKEA: s vision of a better home, how Thomas Spranger rediscovers and rejuvenates Shanghai architecture of the 30: s, among other things.  All presented according to strict guidelines laid out by the Japanese pecha-kucha format (20 slides, each shown for 20 seconds only).

Apparently the above did inspire listeners to notice a lot of new trends and influences. Because we still have not been able to summarize all ideas and reflections that were voiced in the following Springtime think tank.  BUT, I promise you that we will present a full report drawing from the collected wisdom of the 60+ experts that joined in on that one, eventually.

Well fellow Swedes and others who did not join. You missed out on this one.
But be sure to give me a call for the full report and the behind the scenes gossip
